f you use RaceLab for iRacing overlays, especially as a streamer or content creator, their latest updates are worth checking out. RaceLab has added several features that make it easier to manage overlays, interact with chat, analyze lap performance, and launch your sim racing tools without forgetting something important before a race.
In this video, I walked through four of the newest RaceLab features that stood out to me:
- YouTube and Twitch chat overlays
- Stream Deck integration
- Delta Trace overlays
- Tool Manager for launching apps with RaceLab or the sim
For sim racers who stream, record YouTube videos, or just want a cleaner race setup, these are practical quality-of-life improvements.
YouTube and Twitch Chat Overlay
One of the biggest additions is the new chat overlay inside RaceLab.
RaceLab now supports both YouTube and Twitch chat overlays, which is huge if you stream while racing. Instead of needing a fourth monitor, second device, or constantly looking away from the sim, you can place chat directly inside your racing view.
For my setup, this is especially useful because I run an ultrawide monitor and prefer keeping everything in view while driving. I used to rely on an extra screen to see chat, but now RaceLab lets me display it directly in the overlay area.
Setup is simple:
Go into RaceLab → Streaming Overlays → Chat, then enter your Twitch chat name or YouTube handle under the stream settings.
One important note: at least from my testing, the YouTube chat overlay does not work with private YouTube streams. It needs your channel or stream to be public because of how RaceLab pulls the chat data.
For streamers, this is a great addition. It makes interacting with viewers much easier without taking your focus too far away from the track.
Stream Deck Integration
The second major update is RaceLab’s new Stream Deck integration.
I use my Stream Deck all the time while racing and creating content, so this was probably my favorite update. Once you install the RaceLab plugin for Stream Deck, you can control overlays with a single button press.
You can:
- Start or stop all RaceLab overlays
- Lock or unlock overlays
- Toggle specific overlays on or off
- Control individual overlays like chat, standings, relatives, safety flags, and Delta Trace
- Use RaceLab actions for VR and race events
- Add race markers with dedicated buttons
This is extremely useful during races and qualifying.
For example, I do not always want Delta Trace or extra data overlays showing while I am racing. But during qualifying, I do want that information because it helps me understand if I am on pace. With the Stream Deck integration, I can toggle those overlays instantly without digging through menus.
The same goes for chat. I do not always stream, but when I do, I want chat available quickly. Now I can turn it on or off with one button.
For anyone using multiple overlays, this is a massive workflow improvement.
Delta Trace Overlay
RaceLab also added a feature called Delta Trace, which gives you a visual breakdown of where you are gaining or losing time.
You can compare against:
- Your personal best
- Your last lap
- Other iRacers near your iRating
The goal is to show where you are strong and where you need to improve. I do not see this as a full driver coach replacement, but it is very useful for understanding trends in your driving.
For example, if Delta Trace shows that you are strong in one corner but weaker in another, you can use that information during a race. Maybe you know where you are more likely to make a pass, or where you need to defend because another driver may be stronger than you.
That is where this overlay becomes valuable. It is not just about lap time. It can also help you think more strategically about racecraft.
RaceLab also added Stream Deck support for Delta Trace, so you can adjust sensitivity in increments directly from your Stream Deck.
Tool Manager
The fourth feature I tested was Tool Manager, and this one could make race prep much easier.
If you are like me, you have probably jumped into a race and realized something important was not running. For me, that is usually Crew Chief. Starting a race without Crew Chief drives me crazy because I lose all of that spotter and feedback information.
RaceLab’s Tool Manager allows you to launch other apps alongside RaceLab or when the sim starts.
Examples include:
- Crew Chief
- Trading Paints
- SimHub
- Custom executables
- Custom services
- Eye tracking software
- Other sim racing tools
You can set tools to start with RaceLab, stop with RaceLab, or start when the sim launches.
In the video, I tested launching Crew Chief through RaceLab for the first time, and it worked immediately. That is a big win.
I would personally like to add tools like Trophy AI, my Beam eye tracker, SimHub, and Trading Paints into this workflow so that I only need to launch RaceLab and everything else starts automatically.
For anyone who runs multiple sim racing apps, this is a really useful feature.
Why These RaceLab Updates Matter
The biggest takeaway is that RaceLab is making sim racing setups easier to manage.
For streamers, the chat overlay and Stream Deck integration are the biggest upgrades. Being able to toggle overlays, manage chat, and keep everything clean without alt-tabbing or clicking around is a major improvement.
For racers, Delta Trace gives useful performance insight. It can help you understand where you are strong, where you are losing time, and how to think about attacking or defending during a race.
For everyone, Tool Manager makes the pre-race routine easier. Instead of manually launching five different apps before joining a session, RaceLab can help automate that process.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think these are excellent updates from RaceLab.
The Stream Deck integration is my favorite feature because it makes controlling overlays incredibly simple. The YouTube and Twitch chat overlay is also a big deal for streamers, especially if you do not want to run a fourth monitor just to keep up with chat.
Delta Trace is a helpful tool for lap analysis and race strategy, and Tool Manager could become one of those features that quietly saves you from a lot of frustration before races.
If you use RaceLab, stream iRacing, or want a cleaner sim racing setup, these updates are definitely worth trying.
